Earthwatch Diaries, a CSR Program by Alcoa Inc.

"Through Alcoa's support for the Earthwatch Institute, Alcoa employees have the opportunity to participate in Earthwatch expeditions around the world. Expeditioners are all volunteers who nominate themselves for selection. Earthwatch and Alcoa select the expeditioners on merit, and Earthwatch pays all travel and accommodation costs. The expeditioners use their available vacation time for participation. While helping add to the knowledge needed to build a sustainable future, this hands-on support for scientific field research offers a rich opportunity for personal development, nurtures relationships between environmental and business organizations, and helps raise awareness and appreciation of the Earth's ecosystems. In 2008, our employees will be participating in Earthwatch expeditions that focus primarily on climate change, global water supply, and sustainability—issues of great importance to Alcoa. These expeditioners will share their unique experiences through words and photographs posted on their individual diary pages. These pages will become available as they are written throughout the year. -Alcoa"
