Energy for all, a CSR Program by Siemens AG

"With a pilot project in Kenya, OSRAM, a fully-owned Siemens subsidiary, has launched a unique program for ecofriendly, off-grid lighting. At a specially constructed power station, local inhabitants can charge batteries for energy-saving lamps and other devices at a cost they can afford. It supplies up to 10 kilowatts of electricity. This is enough to recharge around 350 lamps per day. All of the electricity it produces is CO2-free, thanks to the solar panels the hubs use. This initiative was created in order to improve the situation. The OSRAM team is currently preparing to build an energy hub in India, thus paving the way for a concept of global significance: It could improve the living conditions of many people and protect our climate. The pioneering project is one of three finalists in this year’s Corporate Responsibility competition." - CSR Energy for All Webpage
