Make an Impact, a CSR Program by Alcoa Inc.

"The Alcoa Foundation and the Pew Center for Global Climate Change have partnered on “Make an Impact” - a unique community-focused project aimed at raising awareness and mobilizing action on climate change in Alcoa communities. Modeled on the project developed in Australia in 2006 by Alcoa, Alcoa Foundation and Greening Australia, “Make an Impact” will provide the tools and resources for Alcoa employees, their families and local community to understand and manage their individual greenhouse footprint. The program features a dynamic Web site with tips, tools and resources on how to reduce energy bills and live more sustainably, a custom-built carbon calculator featuring best practice individual carbon ‘footprint’ analysis and action planning, and a comprehensive outreach program of educational workshops and hands-on activities to support local action and encourage sustainable change. The program encourages the community to get involved and therefore offers programs such as “Save Energy, Save Money, Save the Planet,” which encourages people to take a fun photo of themselves along with family and friends making a positive environmental impact and send it to an email address where it is posted in order to inspire others." -Alcoa
