Protection of Nature and Environment Activities, a CSR Program by AISIN SEIKI Co., Ltd.

Part of Aisin Seiki’s corporate citizenship program is to preserve the sustainability of the global environment. The company focuses on forest renovation and forestation activities in and outside of Japan. One program is a tree planting program with Thai children. The Aisin Children’s Forest Project started in 2005 in response to the destruction of the northern region of Thai forests. So far 12,000 seedlings were planted over nine hectares in fiscal 2008 and in 2009, the company plans on planting 60,000 seedlings on over 45 hectares of land.
A forest renovation program that was completed is the “forestry foster parent agreement.” This program worked with Neba, a municipality in the Nagano Prefecture. The goal of the program was to protect the forest, which is the source of the Yahagi River. In November 2007, the company sponsored the fourth Neba-mura family adventure project. Trees were thinned and paths through the forest were repaired by 80 employees and their families. Interaction also occurred between the employees and the local Neba-mura inhabitants showed the Aisin Seiki employees how to use natural dyes from the forest to dye fabric. Overall, Aisin Seiki stresses the importance of the natural environment and preservation.
